Latest company news about Brisk Metal Releases CPGP1 Pneumatic Auto Gripper Series for Automotive Stamping Automation

Nanjing Manufacturer Expands Gripper Portfolio to Eight Standard Models

Nanjing Brisk Metal Technology Co., Ltd. has released the CPGP1 series, a family of eight pneumatic auto grippers built for automotive stamping, transfer press automation and sheet metal handling. The series covers clamping forces from 420 N to 1600 N and jaw strokes from 16 mm to 60 mm, so one manifold and one sensor standard now serve an entire press line.

The launch follows two years of field data from more than 3,000 grippers running in Chinese and Southeast Asian stamping plants, where transfer speeds, blank gauges and panel geometries vary widely between lines.

Why the Series Was Developed

Brisk engineers logged three recurring failures across customer lines, and each one is addressed by a specific model in the range.

  • Surface marking on visible panels. Bare steel jaws at 420 N concentrated on a 1.5 mm contact area produce roughly 280 MPa of local stress, above the 180 MPa yield of 0.65 mm mild steel. The CPGP10 configuration spreads the same force across a 60 mm polyurethane pad at 2.5 bar, cutting contact stress to about 4 MPa.
  • Slip on oiled advanced high strength steel. A 4 micron draw lubricant film drops the friction coefficient from 0.5 to approximately 0.09, so a 550 N clamp on a 4.8 kg door inner leaves almost no margin. The CPGP17 adds a 40 mm vacuum pad at -60 kPa for 75 N of normal preload, restoring full pad contact.
  • Collision in deep draw cavities. A standard 30 mm stroke forces the gripper body 45 mm behind the grip line, which is exactly where a 45 mm flange lip sits. The CPGP18 opens 60 mm with a 22 mm slim jaw that sweeps only 8 mm beyond the grip line.

Shared Engineering Platform

All eight models use the same design language, which shortens integration work on a mixed line.

  • Cycle life. CPGP15 and CPGP16 are rated to 8 million cycles, the remaining models to 5 million, verified on a 1.2 Hz test bench.
  • Position feedback. Two inductive sensor slots confirm jaw contact within 4 ms, so a missed blank stops the transfer before the ram descends.
  • Fail-safe holding. A self-locking wedge keeps jaws closed at zero line pressure, and reopening requires 2.5 bar.
  • Repeatability. 0.03 mm on the self-centering CPGP14 and 0.05 mm on the standard range, measured over 2,000 consecutive strokes.

Applications in Production

Brisk supplies the series to tier-one and tier-two stampers handling door inners, B-pillars, sills, floor cross members, rocker reinforcements and body side outers. Typical line configurations range from 200 to 2,500 tonne presses running 15 to 60 strokes per minute.

For robotic cells, the range allows gripper count to be reduced rather than increased: four CPGP12 units at 900 N replace six lighter grippers on a 4.2 kg panel, cutting wrist moment from 41 Nm to 21 Nm and removing a torque alarm that had limited the robot to 65 percent speed.

Availability and Customization

Standard models ship in 3 to 7 working days from Nanjing stock, with a minimum order quantity of one piece. Custom jaw geometry, PU or ceramic inserts, and heat shields for hot stamping are produced in 15 to 20 working days. The company operates an ISO 9001:2015 quality system and provides 3D STEP files and selection support for new die projects.

Selection assistance is available for engineers sizing grippers against blank mass, transfer acceleration and lubricant condition, the three variables that most often decide whether a gripper holds or slips.

About Brisk Metal

Founded in Nanjing in 2013, Nanjing Brisk Metal Technology Co., Ltd. manufactures pneumatic grippers, adapters and end effector tooling for sheet metal stamping. The company exports more than 90 percent of output and holds 96 standard gripper models and 190 adapter models in its catalogue.
